TSHEGOFATSO MEKGOE

Born and raised in Luka Village, Tshegofatso Mekgoe is the proud owner of Mophiring Mining Engineering and Construction, a 100% black- and youth-owned company, which specialises in construction, including civil engineering, building works and plant hire.

Through the ESD Programme I now have an efficient operating system for my business.

TSHEGOFATSO is one of the 39 mine-community SMME owners who recently completed Impala Rustenburg’s 12-month ESD Programme. “I have been running my business for some time, however, I was lacking a few tools that I managed to learn through the programme,” said Tshegofatso. He now has a formal business operating system in place, which has enabled him to run his business at an optimal level.

He believes every young person should seize the opportunities given to them to reach their full potential. “The economic sustainability of our communities depends on us. Programmes such as the ESD Programme ensure that our businesses are sustainable and this is achieved through continuous skills transfer and economic sharing between well-established organisations and mine-community SMMEs,” Tshegofatso said.

Tshegofatso is also the founder of a registered non-profit
organisation that supports various causes crucial to community
upliftment.

ROFI ENTERPRISE

RORISANG grew up with his parents and two siblings. He found his love for business after losing his grandfather and is now the first person in his family to run a formal business. He hopes to build a well established manufacturing company in the North West to supply mining companies in the area, while also giving back to disadvantaged communities.

He says his participation in the 12-month ESD Programme has helped his business gain recognition by end users and has given him a foot in the door to daily buying opportunities with big companies such as Impala Rustenburg, McDonalds, ABSA and others. The programme has also helped expand his marketing plan, made him more innovative, and improved his business to better compete with more well-established firms.
