Presentation Simply Put Means!
by Modisane Excellence Institute
Presentation skills are critical in all we do. Whether we realize it or not, we are always selling, selling our product, selling our services and most importantly selling ourselves. The truth is that ‘people always buy into you, before they buy into your idea’. This in essence suggests that one should always be at their greatest and sharpest at all times as we may never know who we are selling to or who they may know.
Money is hidden in people and we should treat each person we meet with respect and most importantly as a potential customer. It is for this reason we need to master the secret of selling, which is not a secret at all. This is to always be aware that you are always selling.

Presentation simply put means: ‘A talk or speech where a new product, idea or piece of work is shown or presented to an audience. In essence every time we speak about our ideas, our products and services or what we intend to do, we are already on a presentation mode. This is why we need to ensure we master the techniques of presenting so as to do it well all the time.
This is how a presentation must be amongst many other things. There are many aspects to consider e.g., before, during and after the presentation. The types of presentations, the tools to use during a presentation and many other considerations. Those unfortunately are things one will need to attend a workshop to fully understand and cannot be unpacked in this article.
The following are some of the elements of a good presentation:
- It has a clear objective: Know what you want to achieve It’s useful to your audience It’s well-rehearsed: Know your presentation well.
- Simplicity: Keep it powerful, but simple.
- Use as little text as possible: Enhance it with images, charts and graphs. Make it exciting.
- Your contact information is clearly featured: Easily reachable.
In conclusion, John Petterson says “A good presentation sparks excitement at first sight and builds anticipation for what is to come”. This means that a good presentation keeps people captivated and wondering all the way to the end.
This is why presentation skills are critical, to lead your customers to buy and make sales. In the end, we are all about giving others an experience of a lifetime through excellence and ensuring that they are able to use the tools provided for a better and more sustainable business.
“All the best as you continue striving to make your business a great success.”
